Coming from a non-sporting family, I built a 23-year career as a professional triathlete. Olympic gold in Beijing. Three-time IRONMAN World Champion. The only athlete to win both. Every finish line taught me the same lesson: the performance that matters most is the one nobody sees.

I grew up in Cape Town and moved back to Europe to chase this dream. I experienced every high and low the sport could throw at me. I met my wife Emma – also an Olympic champion in 2008 – through the sport that dictated our lives for decades. We now have two kids.

I retired at the end of 2023, but the questions about performance, resilience, and what comes next are just getting started.
